Sony Xperia 5 Plus CAD renders & a few specs are here

Well, Sony is definitely not doing that great in the smartphone industry at the moment & it’s due to its own mistakes. The company keeps launching phones that are way too much overpriced for the features that they offer. Last year, Sony decided to change its naming style & frankly speaking, the company made it even more complicated than earlier.

For example, the Sony Xperia 1 was launched last in the first half last year as a flagship & the Sony Xperia 10 as a mid-ranger. Then, we got the Sony Xperia 5, which was a flagship & Sony Xperia 8, which was a mid-ranger.

It looks like Sony is all set to launch a flagship soon in the form of Sony Xperia 5 Plus, the CAD renders of which were shared by OnLeaks today. As the name suggests, it is going to be an upgraded Xperia 5.

Sony is one of the few smartphone brands left that still launch phones with a boxy design. The Xperia 5 Plus is going to be no exception & looking at the CAD renders, the phone does look gorgeous. Maybe this is because I love such boxy designed smartphones. There is glass on the front & the rear & a metal frame all around the device.

On the right, there are volume rockers, power button-cum-fingerprint reader & the dedicated button for the camera shutter.

Sony ditched the headphone jack last year in its flagships, but it is a surprise that Sony Xperia 5 Plus has one on the top. Do you know what else is making its return? Stereo front-firing speakers! In the current times when we are getting phones with shrinking bezels, it is hard to imagine a phone with bezel-less design & also stereo front-firing speakers.

The display on the front is roughly 6.6-inches & it’s a flat OLED screen. As we can see, the bezels are non-existent on the sides & there are tiny top & bottom bezels. The 8 Megapixel front camera is placed on the top bezel. On the rear, there is a triple camera setup that is placed vertically on the top left along with the fourth Time of Flight Sensor (TOF).

The dimensions of the phone are 168.2 x 71.6 x 8.1mm (9.3mm, including rear camera bump).

Well, looking at the design & some features, it seems like Sony means business now with this upcoming device. If priced well, this could be a great hit after a long time from Sony because it packs a gorgeous design & premium build, triple cameras, stereo-front-firing speakers, a bezel-less display with no notch or holes, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
