It is April 1st, and of all the things this day has taught us, one thing is not to trust any new product announcement by a company. Some companies enjoyed making some weird announcements today, but there were some genuine announcements too. One example is Xiaomi, as the company announced the launch of Mi 11 Ultra on the 23rd of April in India. Sony has now announced an event on the 14th of this month, and at this event, we will see some new Xperia phones.
One phone that we are expecting to launch is the Sony Xperia 1 III, the renders of which we saw in January. As we saw in those renders, there is hardly any difference between the Xperia 1 II and Xperia 1 III when it comes to the overall design. There is the same long 21:9 display on the front with no notch or hole-punch cutout, the same vertically placed camera module on the rear, and the same side-facing fingerprint reader. Just like the Xperia 1 II, there is a headphone jack on the Xperia 1 III as well, so that’s great!
Apart from the usual upgrades over the last generation, such as the chipset, the Sony Xperia 1 III has a periscope camera on the rear, something that is first for any Xperia device. This means we are finally getting more than a 3X Optical Zoom camera on a Sony phone.
It is also possible that Sony launches some other Xperia phones at the event, such as the Xperia 5 III or the Xperia 10 III. Well, there are still a couple of weeks left for the launch, so soon, we will surely get to know more about the phones that are launching at the event.
