Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 to feature a 4.32GHz CPU, specs revealed

The CPU will feature "'Phoenix" cores!

Recently, we got to know the Geekbench scores of the upcoming OnePlus 13, which features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. For the first time, a smartphone SOC has scored over 10,000 on multi-core on Geekbench. And this score is higher than the recently launched iPhone 16 series, which features Apple’s A18 & A18 Pro chipsets. Now, the key specifications of the 8 Gen 4 were shared by Digital Chat Station on Weibo.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is built on the TSMC’s 3nm process and features an octa-core CPU. This octa-core CPU has two “Phoenix L” cores clocked at up to 4.23GHz and six “Phoenix M” cores clocked at up to 3.53GHz. These are some ridiculously high clock speed numbers for a smartphone chipset. For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a CPU that goes up to 3.3GHz (3.4GHz in the case of the overclocked version).

The “Phoenix” cores most likely refer to the new “Oryon” cores that Qualcomm is going to use in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. “Oryon” is Qualcomm’s custom-designed CPU, which powers chipsets such as the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus.

The GPU is the Adreno 830, compared to the Adreno 750 GPU inside Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Well, with these specifications, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is going to launch as the most powerful smartphone chipset in the market. After a long time, it seems like Qualcomm will finally be able to beat Apple’s SOCs in performance.
