Sharp Aquos R5G Official with Snapdragon 865 & 120Hz LCD

We don’t cover phone from Sharp brand a lot & the last device we talked about on DroidHolic was the Sharp Aquos S3 which had a weird dual-notch design & flagship specifications. Today, Sharp launched a new flagship in Japan named the Shap Aquos R5G. It is not only the latest flagship from the brand but also the company’s first 5G smartphone since it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SOC.

SHARP AQUOS R5G – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS

Like the Aquos S3 that we covered last year, the Aquos R5G has a dual notch design with the main U-shaped notch on the top with a single selfie camera in it, and a second notch on the bottom where the physical fingerprint scanner is also placed. The rear design is changed since there are Quad cameras placed vertically on the top left. The phone has a USB Type-C port on the bottom & a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top.

Talking about the specs, the Sharp Aquos R5G features a 6.5-inch Quad-HD+ (2K) display with 120Hz refresh rate. It is worth mentioning that there is an LCD panel instead of OLED. The phone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SOC & 5G support. There is also 12GB LPDDR5 RAM & 256GB UFS 3.0 storage.

The phone has a 3,730mAh battery & there is also IP68 certification. Android 10 runs out of the box.

Coming to the cameras now, the Sharp Aquos R5G features a Quad camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 12 Megapixel unit with OIS & f/1.7 aperture, a secondary 12.2 Megapixel telephoto lens with OIS & 2X Optical Zoom, a third 48 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a fourth Time of Flight sensor. Thanks to the high megapixel count of the ultra-wide-angle camera, you can shoot up to 8K videos from it. There is a 16MP selfie camera.

Well, the pricing & availability details are not yet known, but it is most likely not coming to markets outside Japan.
