The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip launched in February this year alongside the Galaxy S20 Series & now, Samsung is preparing to upgrade it to support 5G. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G is most likely launching on August 5 alongside the Galaxy Note 20 Series & the Galaxy Fold 2.
The vertically folding concept of the Galaxy Z Flip was liked by many, so it is good news that Samsung is upgrading the device with a more powerful SOC & 5G support.
Digital Chat Station, a popular leakster on Weibo, revealed the key specifications of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G & there isn’t much difference in the Z Flip 4G & Z Flip 5G. Like the 4G variant, the Z Flip 5G has a 6.7-inch main foldable AMOLED display on the inside with a resolution of 1080 x 2636 pixels.
The secondary AMOLED display on the 5G version is a bit smaller at 1.05-inch compared to the 1.1-inch panel on the 4G version. But, the resolution is the same i..e, 112 x 300 pixels.
The biggest upgrade comes in the form of Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SOC which not only means a boost in the performance but also means 5G support. The performance-based cores of Snapdragon 865+ are clocked at up to 3.09GHz.
The camera count remains the same but according to Digital Chat Station, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G has a 12 Megapixel + 10 Megapixel dual camera setup on the rear as opposed to the 12MP + 12MP setup on the 4G version. Also, the front camera is now a 12 Megapixel unit compared to the 10MP unit on Z Flip 4G.
Finally, there are dual batteries – 2500mAh+704mAh & 15W Fast Charging support. The dimensions & the weight of the Z Flip 5G remains the same as the 4G version.
Well, there is still more than a month left for the unveiling so we will definitely get to know a lot more about the phone by the time the launch takes place.
