In case you don’t know yet, Samsung launches some “rugged” phones as well & last year, we got a phone named Galaxy XCover FieldPro with features like MIL-STD-810G and IP68 certifications, 4500mAh battery and POGO pin charging, Band 14- enabled for dedicated emergency response communications, and more. Well, Samsung is all set to launch yet another phone under its rugged smartphone lineup, the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro (SM-G715).
The official press renders & the specifications were shared by WinFuture today & as per the website, the device would be available in February 2020 in the European market for a price under 500 euros.
The design is pretty different than previous rugged phones from the brand. The XCover Pro has a punch-hole display that has a single selfie camera placed in a circular cutout on the top left. On the rear, there are dual cameras. Unlike previous rugged phones from the brand, we have no physical buttons on the front.
Also, the whole protective casing around the device is now less aggressive in terms of the looks if you compare it to the previous rugged phones from Samsung. Maybe Samsung wants even normal users to use this device.
The phone is IP68 certified for protection against Water & Dust. Since there is a thick plastic casing around the device, it can withstand shocks. On the front, there is a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ LCD panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio. It is a mid-range rugged phone hence features the octa-core Exynos 9611 SOC. There is 4GB RAM & 64GB storage.
On the rear, there is a dual-camera setup that includes a primary 25 Megapixel camera & a secondary 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The camera on the front is a 13 Megapixel unit for selfies.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro has a 4,200mAH battery & the battery is replaceable as well. Replaceable batteries are not new for Samsung’s rugged phones. For Quick messages, Samsung has added a “Push to Talk” button. The fingerprint scanner is on the right side that also works as the power button.
Android 10 runs out of the box with OneUI 2.0 on top & the phone is 10mm thick and weighs around 200 grams.
