[UPDATE – NO!] Rumored Galaxy A90 to launch under the Galaxy R series

OnLeaks now revealed that his sources confused internal and commercial naming scheme so the information about Galaxy A90 launching under the “R” series is incorrect. The two phones that we mentioned below will indeed launch under the “A” series with model numbers SM-A908 and SM-A905.

The SM-A908 has Snapdragon 855 processor, 6.7-inch display, in-display fingerprint scanner, 5G support & triple cameras on the rear (48MP + 8MP + 5MP).

The SM-A905 also has Snapdragon 855 processor, 6.7-inch display & in-screen fingerprint scanner but features a 48MP + 12MP + 5MP camera setup on the rear. Moreover, there is Tilt OIS technology which is exclusive for this phone. There is, however, not 5G support.

A couple of months back Samsung Galaxy A80 launched with a unique pop-up + rotating mechanism for cameras & the rumors of Galaxy A90 started after that. We even got the confirmation that there is indeed a phone with the model number (SM-A90X) that’s in the works. But, it looks like Samsung is preparing to launch this device under a whole new lineup of phones.

According to OnLeaks, the phone is launching under the upcoming Galaxy R series from the company.

We know that the Galaxy S series includes premium flagships from the brand, so we wonder what the Galaxy R series has to offer now. It would most probably include the premium mid-range phones. The R series would likely sit between the A series & the S series from Samsung.

According to OnLeaks, two models of the phone are there, both having huge displays & triple rear cameras. At least one of the model is 5G supported & the other features a unique camera system. We have already seen the unique camera setup on Galaxy A80 so it would be interesting to see what Samsung has next to showcase.
