Earlier this month, Samsung launched the Galaxy M33 5G in the Indian market at ₹18,999, and for the price, the phone features Exynos 1280 SOC, a 120Hz LCD, and a 50MP primary sensor. Today, Samsung announced that on the 22nd of April, it is launching the Galaxy M53 5G in India. As the name suggests, Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is the successor to the Galaxy M52 5G last year. The M52 5G is an excellent value-for-money phone even today as it offers Snapdragon 778G 5G, 120Hz AMOLED, 25W charging, and more for around ₹25,000. ]
As for the Galaxy M53 5G, it keeps the same design from the rear as the Galaxy M33. So, there is a square-shaped camera housing with a Quad Camera setup in it. But, unlike the M33, which has a notch on the front, the Galaxy M53 has a hole-punch cutout. The fingerprint scanner is still on the side. The phone lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack, but that is no longer a surprise since even the Galaxy M52 5G didn’t have one.
Speaking of the specs, Samsung Galaxy M53 5G has a 6.7″ Full-HD+ Super AMOLED Plus with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by Dimensity 900 5G SOC which is interesting because the Galaxy M52 had Snapdragon 778G, which is a better and more powerful SOC than Dimensity 900. The phone has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, with the option of expanding the storage via a microSD card of up to 1TB. The battery size is 5,000mAh, and there is support for 25W charging. You won’t get the adapter in the box.
Finally, the Quad camera setup on the rear includes a primary 108MP sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. So, in terms of camera setup, while the primary sensor is upgraded from 64MP to 108MP, the rest of the camera sensors are downgraded. So, there is an 8MP ultrawide compared to 12MP and a 2MP macro sensor compared to 5MP. There is the same 32MP selfie camera, though. OneUI 4.1 runs out of the box, which is based on Android 12.
We do not know the price yet but considering the starting price of ₹18,999 for the M33 5G, expect the Galaxy M53 5G to be priced around ₹25,000.
