In September last year, Samsung launched its Galaxy M51 smartphone in the Indian market, and the phone was praised a lot for its incredible display, a humongous 7000mAh battery, and a great set of cameras. It even featured a Snapdragon 730G SOC instead of any Exynos chipset. Well, now, Samsung is all set to upgrade that phone with the Galaxy M52 5G. As the name shows, this time, it would be a 5G phone, something the last year’s M51 wasn’t.
According to an exclusive report by 91Mobiles, the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G is set to launch soon after Samsung launches the Galaxy M32 5G in India. The Galaxy M32 5G is launching in India on the 25th of August, so most likely, we would see the launch of M52 5G happening in early September. Anyways, keeping the launch date aside for a moment, the Galaxy M52 5G is coming with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, and this is the same chip that powers the recently launched Realme GT Master Edition & the Motorola Edge 20, both of which cost above Rs 25,000 in the Indian market.
Speaking of the 5G bands that the Galaxy M52 supports, it supports 11, 5G bands, so that means the phone is future-proof as well. There is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED with a Full-HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
One big downgrade this time is the battery. The Galaxy M series is known for the massive battery sizes as we have seen 6,000mAh and 7,000mAh cells powering phones under this series. But, the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G is coming with a much smaller 5,000mAh battery, a reduction of 2,000mAh from last year. Of course, a 5,000mAh battery is not small, but still, we are talking about a smartphone series known for massive batteries. The report claims that you would get a 15W adapter in the box, which is weird as the last year’s M51 offered a 25W adapter.
Finally, speaking of the camera setup, you will be getting a triple camera setup on this phone that includes a primary 64 Megapixel shooter, a secondary 12 Megapixel ultrawide, and a third 5 Megapixel depth sensor. The Galaxy M51 of last year had a Quad camera array with an extra 5MP macro camera. There is a 32MP camera on the front, and the Samsung Galaxy M52 is said to launch with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
Due to the smaller battery, it will be a pretty thin phone at 7mm compared to the 9.5mm thickness of the M51.
The launch date is not yet known, but it is said that soon after the Galaxy M32 launches in India, we would get the M52 5G as well. We don’t know the price yet, but when even Realme prices a Snapdragon 778G powered phone above Rs 25,000, don’t expect Samsung to launch the Galaxy M52 5G under Rs 25,000.
