Samsung Galaxy M42 is now official in the Indian market, and even though it seems like some new phone from the brand, it is the Galaxy A42 5G for the Indian market. The specs are identical, and the only difference is in the name. Speaking of the price, the phone starts at Rs 21,999, but a special introductory offer brings the starting price down to Rs 19,999. As the name suggests, it supports 5G, and so this is the company’s first 5G phone under the Galaxy M series.
There are two color options named Prism Dot Black and Prism Dot Grey, and there is a layered pattern on the glossy plastic back panel. The Quad camera setup is placed in a square-shaped camera housing on the top left.
Powering this device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G SOC under the hood, and there is 6GB or 8GB RAM paired with 128GB ROM. The storage can be expanded via a microSD card.
While everything so far seems good, there is one area where Samsung did the cost-cutting, and it is the display. Yes, it is a Super AMOLED panel, and the fingerprint scanner is underneath it, but still, Samsung, for some reason, decided to go for a 720p resolution. And again, we are talking about a phone that starts at around Rs 20,000! While we are used to seeing 6,000 or 7,000mAh batteries in Samsung’s mid-range devices, the Galaxy M42 5G comes with a 5,000mAh cell and supports 15W fast charging.
Finally, speaking of those cameras, there are three on the rear that includes a primary 48 Megapixel shooter paired with an 8 Megapixel ultrawide, a 5 Megapixel macro, and a 5 Megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there is a 20 Megapixel shooter.
Samsung Galaxy M42 5G comes in two storage options in India – 6GB + 128GB at Rs 21,999 and 8GB + 128GB at Rs 23,999. You get Rs 2,000 instant cashback on HDFC Credit Cards and EMI Transactions, so that brings the starting price down to Rs 19,999.
