Samsung launched a couple of new “M” series phones in the Indian market today named Galaxy M10s & Galaxy M30s. As the names suggest, these are the upgrades to this year’s Galaxy M10 & M30 which were well-received by the users in the Indian market. The Samsung Galaxy M30s is an interesting phone due to the fact that it has a humongous 6,000mAh battery underneath, one of the biggest on any phone launched so far.
Compared to the Galaxy M30 that launched in February this year, the design of M30s isn’t that different except for the design of camera setup on the back that looks odd. The triple cameras & the LED flash is placed in a rectangular housing which undoubtedly looks weird. The oval-shaped fingerprint scanner is there on the back.
On the front, there is an Infinity-U display which is a fancy name Samsung has given to a display with a U-shaped notch on top. The USB Type-C port along with the headphone jack is there on the bottom. Just like every “M” series phone, the Samsung Galaxy M30s features a glossy plastic build.
On the front, there is a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Full-HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio & a peak brightness of 420 nits. There screen-to-body ratio is around 91%. So, the display remains the same as on the Galaxy M30.
Under the hood, there is 10nm Exynos 9611 octa-core SOC that features 4X Cortex-A73 cores clocked at up to 2.3GHz & 4X Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.7GHz. There is Mali-G72 MP3 GPU & the phone comes with 4/6GB LPDDR4X RAM & 64/128GB UFS 2.1 storage. The storage is expandable up to 512GB, thanks to the dedicated microSD card slot.
On the rear, the Samsung Galaxy M30s has a triple camera setup that includes a primary 48 Megapixel camera with F/2.0 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera & a 5MP depth sensor. The primary camera has a Samsung sensor instead of the Sony sensor.
On the front, there is a single 16MP camera.
The biggest highlight of the Galaxy M30s is definitely that 6,000mAh battery & the phone also supports 15W Fast Charging, so that’s nice. Despite having this humongous battery, the M30s is just 188 grams heavy & 8.9mm thick. According to Samsung, On one charge, you get 29 hours of video playback, 49 hours of voice calls, and over 131 hours of music playback!
The Samsung Galaxy M30s comes in three colours, namely Opal Black, Sapphire Blue & Pearl White. The phone will be available to buy via Amazon India & Samsung India’s website starting September 29. The 4GB + 64GB variant is priced at Rs 13,999 while the 6GB + 128GB variant at Rs 16,999.
