Samsung Galaxy F42 5G launching in India on September 29

It is just a rebranded Galaxy Wide 5 that is already available in South Korea

Apart from the Galaxy M52 5G that is launching on the 28th of September in India, there is another phone that the company is launching this month. The Galaxy F42 5G is that phone, and it is launching on the 29th of September in India. As the name suggests, this is the successor to Galaxy F41, which was a 4G phone launched last year in October. Samsung has already revealed a lot about the F42 5G as the dedicated page for the phone is already up on Flipkart’s website.

Looking at the design on the Flipkart page, it should not be wrong to say that the F42 5G is just a rebrand of Galaxy Wide 5, which is already official in South Korea. In this article, we are assuming that there is no change in the specs of F42 5G as compared to those of Wide 5.

So, there is a waterdrop notch on the front along with a thick bottom bezel and a triple camera setup placed in a small square-ish camera module. The fingerprint scanner sits on the right side and doubles as the power button. The 3.5mm headphone jack is on the bottom, along with the Type-C port. The phone has a polycarbonate build, and instead of having a glossy back, as in the Galaxy F41 of last year, the Galaxy F42 5G has a textured back panel.

Regarding the specs, Samsung Galaxy F42 5G has a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SOC, and it is a 5G chipset. The phone supports 12 5G bands as well. There is a 90Hz Full-HD+ panel on the front, and while the Flipkart page does not reveal whether it is an LCD or AMOLED, the Galaxy Wide 5 launched in South Korea has a TFT LCD. So, if there is no change in the specs, then the Galaxy F42 5G will launch with a TFT LCD panel which is a surprise since the Galaxy F41 of last year had a Super AMOLED panel.

The phone has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 15W charging. In terms of the cameras, you get a triple camera setup on the back where the primary shooter has a 64-megapixel sensor, the secondary ultrawide camera has a 5-megapixel sensor, and the third camera is for depth information, and it has a 2MP sensor. There is an 8 Megapixel selfie camera.

Well, the Galaxy F41 launched in India last year for Rs 16,999, so we can expect the Galaxy F42 5G’s starting price to stay under Rs 20,000.
