Samsung Galaxy A10, A30 & A50 officially launched in India

Today, two of the biggest smartphone brands in India launched their phones in the budget and the mid-range segment. Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 & Note 7 Pro whereas Samsung launched the Galaxy A10, A30, and A50 in India. We have already talked about the Note 7 and Note 7 Pro in our previous article and in this one, we will talk about the all-new ‘A’ series phones. The Samsung Galaxy A10 is the cheapest whereas the Samsung Galaxy A50 is the most expensive among the three.

SAMSUNG GALAXY A10

Starting off with the Galaxy A10, it is a phone priced similar to the M10 and has a similar design from the front. It has an Infinity-V display which means there is a waterdrop notch on top. On the rear, however, there is a single camera and no fingerprint scanner. The body is made out of plastic, so nothing is interesting when it comes to the design.

The micro USB port and 3.5mm headphone jack are placed on the bottom whereas the speaker is placed on the rear which is a location that not everyone likes.

The Samsung Galaxy A10 has a 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a resolution of 720 x 1520. There is no mention of any Gorilla Glass protection, so we don’t think the phone has any. The processor under the hood is the 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7884B that comprises of 2x Arm Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 1.6GHz & 6x Arm Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz. The A10 comes in a single 3GB + 32GB storage option.

On the rear, the phone has a single 13MP camera with f/1.9 aperture. There is a 5MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The battery underneath is a 4,000mAh unit, and there is no fast charging or even the 10W charging as the phone charges via the 5W charger. Samsung’s One UI based on Android Pie runs out of the box.

The Samsung Galaxy A10 is priced at Rs 8,490 in India which translates to around $119.

SAMSUNG GALAXY A30

The Samsung Galaxy A30 sits between the A10 and A50 when we talk about the pricing and the features. When compared to the A10, the design of the A30 is changed as it has a glossy plastic back and also an Infinity-U display on the front with a smaller bottom chin. There is now a USB Type-C port on the bottom and dual cameras with a fingerprint scanner on the rear.

It is a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED panel with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1080 x 2340. This is a Super AMOLED screen which means it is better than every TFT or LCD that we see on phones in this price segment. The chipset is the Exynos 7904 which is the same processor which powers the Galaxy M20 and the M30. The Samsung Galaxy A30 comes with 4GB RAM & 64GB ROM.

There are dual rear cameras that include a primary 16MP f/1.7 camera and a secondary 5MP f/2.2 wide-angle camera with 123-degree FOV. So, the camera setup seems pretty solid on paper. On the front, the A30 has a 16MP f/2.0 camera. The battery underneath is a 4,000mAh unit that supports 15W Fast Charging via the USB Type-C port.

The 4GB variant is priced at Rs 16,990 in India.

SAMSUNG GALAXY A50

The Samsung Galaxy A50 is the most expensive among the three and also the most feature-packed. It is the first ‘A’ series phones from Samsung featuring an in-display fingerprint scanner. It also has triple cameras on the rear which were seen in the Galaxy M30 as well.

It has a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 and an aspect ratio fo 19.5:9. It is an Infinity-U screen which means there is a U-shaped notch on top. The processor powering the Galaxy A50 is the 10nm Exynos 9610 which is an octa-core processor with 4x Arm Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.3GHz & 4x Arm Cortex-A53 cores at 1.7GHz. The phone comes with 4/6GB RAM and 64/128GB ROM.

There are triple rear cameras that include a primary 25MP f/1.7 camera, an 8MP f/2.2 wide-angle camera, and a third 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor. On the front, there is a 25MP f/2.0 camera. Camera features include AR Emoji, Scene Optimizer, Hyperlapse, etc.

The phone has a 4,000mAh battery underneath that supports 15W Fast Charging via the USB Type-C port. As mentioned above, it has an in-display fingerprint scanner, first on any ‘A ‘series phone from Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 comes in three colors – Black, White, and Blue. The price starts at Rs 19,990 for the 4GB + 64GB variant and goes up to Rs 22,990 for the 6GB+ 128GB variant.

The Samsung Galaxy A10 and A30 will be up for sale starting March 2nd whereas the Samsung Galaxy A50 from March 20.
