[UPDATE – Quad Cameras] Redmi smartphone with 64MP camera sensor teased

UPDATE – REDMI REVEALS THAT THE PHONE HAS QUAD CAMERAS

Redmi posted a new teaser on Weibo that reveals there is a Quad Camera setup on the rear. This means it will be the first device, not just under the Redmi brand, but also from Xiaomi, with a Quad Camera setup on the back. It is already confirmed that the primary camera has a 64MP sensor. So, it is interesting that not just Realme, but Redmi is also working on a Quad Camera phone with a 64MP primary camera.

Redmi further added that a single photo taken with the 64MP camera has a size of 20MB & the resolution is superior to that of an 8K TV.

A couple of months back, Samsung announced the world’s first 64MP camera sensor for smartphones named the ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. Then, last month, Realme teased an upcoming phone with Quad cameras on the rear & a 64MP primary camera. Now, it looks like Redmi is also bringing a phone with a 64MP camera as the company teased the same on Weibo today.

The teaser shows an image shot by the camera & we can see how much detail the image has, even if we zoom in. Now, while Xiaomi didn’t disclose the name of the sensor, it is definitely the Samsung’s GW1 sensor since at the moment, Sony hasn’t announced any such camera sensor.

Well, this does mean that Redmi isn’t done with launching phones this year. There are more to come & this is most likely going to be a mid-range device as it makes no sense to launch two flagships this year (Redmi K20 Pro is already here).

Let’s see which brand comes on top when we talk about the first smartphone to launch with the 64MP camera sensor. What do you think? Would it be Redmi or Realme? Do let us know via the comments section below.
