Redmi has finally announced the launch date for the Note 9 Series in the Chinese market & while the name is the same, this is not the same Note 9 series that launched globally earlier this year. In fact, it is almost confirmed now that we are getting at least two 5G phones under this series in China, namely Redmi Note 9 5G & Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. Along with the launch date, Redmi also gave us our first look at the design of one of the phones under this series that, as per previous leaks, is the “Pro” version.
As the image shows, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has the same design as the Mi 10T Lite so it might just the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite with a different name for China. There is the same design for the Quad camera setup on the rear & a side-facing fingerprint scanner. While we cannot see the whole front of the phone in the above image, there is a single hole-punch cutout in the middle, as revealed by the TENAA listing. Again, it the same as on the Mi 10T Lite.
As per TENAA, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SOC & a 108 Megapixel primary rear camera, 16 Megapixel selfie camera, a 4,720mAh rated battery capacity, a 6.67-inch IPS LCD & up to 256GB storage. The vanilla Note 9 5G has a 6.53-inch IPS LCD, a 4,900mAh rated battery capacity, a 48 Megapixel primary rear camera, 13 Megapixel selfie camera & it is rumoured to feature the Dimensity 800U SOC.
We don’t know if these phones will launch outside China, but if they do, then the name may or may not be the same. There is no 5G phones under the Note 9 series in the global market so Redmi may launch these phones with the same name as in China.
