In October, the Redmi Note 12 series launched in China, which includes the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro & Redmi Note 12 Pro+. Today, the company launched yet another phone under this series in China, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. The starting price is ¥1699, so that’s the same starting price as Redmi Note 12 Pro.
Design-wise, the Speed Edition has a slightly different-looking rear design. While the camera module has the same design, the area around the camera module has a different design, and even the company’s branding is placed on the right side of the camera module. There are flat sides, a flat display with a hole punch cutout, stereo speakers with Dolby atmos, X-axis linear motor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IP53 rating, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The thickness of the device is 7.9mm, and it weighs 181g.
On the front, Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition has a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display with 900nit brightness, a 2.9mm bottom bezel, 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The panel supports Dolby Vision as well.
Under the hood, the phone has Snapdragon 778G chipset, so while it is not the newest Snapdragon 7 series SOC, this is still a powerful SOC at this price. It is built on the 6nm process and has a CPU with Cortex-A78 cores. There is up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.
On the back, Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition has three cameras. The primary camera has a 1/1.52-inch 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. The primary camera can shoot 4K 30fps videos. For selfies, the phone has a 16MP camera.
The battery size is 5,000mAh, and the phone supports 67W fast charging. MIUI 14 runs out of the box.
