The Redmi K70 trio was launched in China today, and in our previous articles, we discussed the Redmi K70 & K70 Pro, the flagship phones. Alongside these two phones, the company also launched the Redmi K70E, a mid-range device and the successor to the Redmi K60E.
The Redmi K60E was launched with the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 last year at ¥2199 (~$315), but the K70E starts at ¥1999 (~$282). On top of this, the base variant has 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The Redmi K60E with the same RAM and storage was launched at ¥2599 (~$367).
The design language is the same as the other two models, but the company doesn’t mention a metal frame on its official website, so the phone most probably has a plastic frame.
Since this is a mid-range phone, it doesn’t have the same display as the other two phones in this series. The Redmi K70E has a 6.67-inch 1.5K (2712 x 1220 pixels) OLED display with 12-bit color depth, 1800 nits peak brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.
There is a MediaTek Dimensity 8300-ULTRA chipset that, as per the company, scores over 1.5 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark. Compared to the Dimensity 8200, this new chip offers up to 60% better GPU performance and 20% better CPU performance. The phone has LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, similar to the K70 & K70 Pro.
The battery is 5,500mAh, and the phone supports 90W fast wired charging. There are Xiaomi’s Surge P2 and Surge G1 chipsets for controlling the power and thermals while charging.
Speaking of cameras, the Redmi K70E has three on the rear. The primary camera has a 64MP 1/2” sensor with OIS, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. The phone can shoot 4K videos at up to 30fps. The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor.
Other features include an under-display fingerprint sensor, an X-axis linear motor, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and HyperOS.
