In May, the Redmi Note 11T Pro & 11T Pro+ launched in China with Dimensity 8100 SOC. The Note 11T Pro was launched in the global market as the Poco X4 GT in June. And today, the same phone launched in the Indian market as the Redmi K50i. Apart from the name, there is no difference between the Poco X4 GT and the K50i.
In terms of the price, the K50i starts at ₹25,999, which makes it the most affordable phone in India powered by the Dimensity 8100 SOC. It is worth mentioning that Dimensity 8100 powers phones such as the Realme GT Neo 3 & the Oppo Reno 8 Pro, and those phones are priced well above ₹35,000 in India.
Of course, such as low price means Redmi has done some cost cutting. For example, Redmi K50i has a polycarbonate build. So, both the frame and the back are made out of plastic. The fingerprint scanner is on the side and not under the display. This is because the phone does not have an AMOLED or OLED panel. Instead, Redmi K50i has an LCD.
The good thing to note is this is a pretty good LCD panel. It is a Liquid FFS (Fringe Field Switching) LCD with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. The refresh rate goes up to 144Hz, and there is 7-stage DynamicSwitch technology. The peak brightness of this display is 650 nits, and it is protected with Gorilla Glass 5.
The main USP of the Redmi K50i is performance. It comes with MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SOC which is the most powerful SOC that you can get at this price. It offers better performance than Snapdragon 870 and even beats the Snapdragon 888 in some scenarios. Redmi says the phone scores around 822,000 on the AnTuTu benchmark, which is higher than even the Snapdragon 888. On top of that, there is LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. For better thermal management, the phone has LiquidCool 2.0 technology. For better haptics, there is an X-axis linear motor.
So, when it comes to performance, this is definitely the best phone at this price.
Speaking of the cameras, Redmi K50i has a triple camera setup. The primary camera has a 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor (without OIS), the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. There is a 16MP selfie shooter. Finally, the battery size is 5,080mAh, and there is 67W fast charging support.
Other features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6, and MIUI 13 based on Android 12.
Redmi K50i comes in three colors and here is the pricing for the Indian market –
- 6GB + 128GB – ₹25,999
- 8GB + 256GB – ₹28,999
The first sale of K50i will be on the 23rd of July.
