It is launching in China on the 17th of March

UPDATE – 120W CHARGING + 5,000mAh BATTERY

The Dimensity 9000-powered phone under the Redmi K50 series has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 120W fast charging. The phone also has Xiaomi’s Surge P1 chip which we saw in the Xiaomi 12 series as well. This chip will ensure that not only does the battery gets charged quickly, the thermals are also in control. The 120W charger can fully charge the 5,000mAh battery of the phone in just 19 minutes. Despite a large battery, the thickness of the phone is 8.48mm only.

Also, above are the images of three color options revealed by Redmi so far.

Redmi launched the first phone under its K50 series almost a month ago, named the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. That phone had the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC, 120W fast charging, a 120Hz display, and more. But, as the name suggests, that is a gaming-centric phone. Like past generations, there are other phones under this series, and the company has already announced an event on the 17th of March in China where some new phones under the Redmi K50 series will be launched. We are expecting at least two new phones – Redmi K50 & Redmi K50 Pro.

The company has revealed a lot of details on Weibo already, so in this article, let us talk about everything we know so far. We will keep updating this article as new information comes in.

First, let us talk about the design. The Redmi K50 series has the same design as shown by the CAD-based renders. The back has a unique design that is the result of what the company calls, ‘nano-microcrystalline process.’ The fingerprint scanner sits on the side and doubles as the power button. Both phones have a flat panel with a hole punch in the middle.

Speaking of other things, there is a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos, Bluetooth 5.3 support (first phones to offer BT 5.3), and LC3 audio. Compared to Bluetooth 5.2, the newer version offers lower latency and less power consumption. There is a dual-band GPS, NFC, IR Blaster, X-axis linear motor, and 160GHz WiFi 6. For cooling, there is a large 3,950mm square VC cooling system.

As for performance, Redmi K50 has the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SOC, whereas the K50 Pro gets the Dimensity 9000 SOC. On Geekbench, the Redmi K50 with Dimensity 8100 scores 932 on single-core and 3690 on multi-core. On the other hand, Redmi K50 Pro with Dimensity 9000 scores 1310 on single-core and 4493 on multi-core.

Well, so far, the Redmi K50 series is looking pretty solid on paper. We hope the pricing is going to be pretty aggressive as always.
