Redmi K50 Extreme Edition first look shared by the company

The phone has Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip

Recently, Redmi announced the launch of a new flagship phone under the K50 series named the K50 Extreme Edition. The company revealed that this phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SOC but did not share any other details. Well, now, Redmi has announced that the launch is taking place on the 11th of August in China, i.e., tomorrow. And since tomorrow Xiaomi is launching some new devices, including the Mix Fold 2, it seems like at the same event, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition is also launching.

Along with the launch date, Redmi also gave us our first look at the design of the phone.

Design-wise, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition looks quite different than other K50 series devices. It looks more like the Xiaomi 12 series, thanks to that camera module design. These images also confirm the rumor that the phone has an under-display fingerprint scanner, something we haven’t seen on a K series device since the Redmi K30 series. There is an AG glass back & the camera module is made of metal.

Redmi also shared the display specifications of the K50 Extreme Edition in detail. The phone has a 1.5K (2712 x 1220 pixels) OLED panel, and Redmi says that this is a custom resolution with the actual look and feel close to a 2K resolution panel but power consumption comparable to that of a 1080p panel. So this panel has an outstanding balance of high image quality and low power consumption. The pixel density is 446PPI & this OLED panel has jointly been developed by TCL CSOT & TIANMA.

To improve the brightness consistency of the panel, the single-layer circuit was upgraded to a dual-layer circuit. The company even claims that the panel’s life has been increased by 33%.

Like the Xiaomi 12 series, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition’s panel can display 68.7 billion colors which means this is a 12-bit panel. This panel supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and also the new Adaptive HDR, which can adjust the HDR effect as per the content and the screen brightness.

The official images reveal that the primary rear camera has a 108MP sensor.

Redmi has not shared any other details regarding the device at the time of publishing this article. But since the launch is taking place tomorrow, we won’t have to wait much.
