Redmi A1+ launched – More RAM & a fingerprint scanner

And well, those are the only upgrades over Redmi A1

Release Date
October 14, 2022
Starting Price
₹6,999

Last month, Redmi A1 launched in the Indian market with Android 12 GO Edition and a price tag of ₹6,499. Now, the company has launched an upgraded version in the Indian market, the Redmi A1+. What are the upgrades? Well, the Plus version gets more RAM and a fingerprint scanner, both of which were missing on the Redmi A1.

The fingerprint scanner on the Redmi A1+ is placed on the rear, and there is no difference in the design or the color options. It still has the MediaTek Helio A22 SOC, but apart from 2GB RAM, this phone also comes in a 3GB RAM option. The storage remains the same for both variants, i.e., 32GB. The battery size is 5,000mAh, and there is 10W charging support. The dual camera setup on the back includes a primary 8MP sensor and a secondary QVGA sensor. For selfies, you get a 5MP camera.

Finally, there is a 6.52-inch 720p display with a notch, and the phone runs on Android 12 Go Edition.

Redmi A1+ comes in two storage options, and here is the pricing for India –

  • 2GB + 32GB – ₹6,999
  • 3GB + 32GB – ₹7,999

Well, if you were planning to buy Redmi A1, you can spend ₹500 extra and get a fingerprint scanner, which sounds like a good deal. But ₹1,500 extra for more RAM and a fingerprint scanner does not sound like a great deal. Anyways, the phone will go on sale in India on October 17.
