A couple of weeks ago, Redmi 9A went official in the Indian market & we thought it is the final phone to launch under the Redmi 9 series. But later, the company teased the launch of Redmi 9i in India & today, the phone was officially unveiled. While the name is different, it is just the Redmi 9A but with 4GB RAM & 64/128GB storage.
It would’ve been better to launch the Redmi 9A in the 4GB variant as well instead of launching a phone with a different name just to offer more RAM & storage. But as we know, companies like Redmi & Realme love crowding the budget segment with too many phones, so it is not a surprise at all.
Since it is the exact same device as Redmi 9A, we won’t talk in detail about the design again. Specs-wise, it has the MediaTek Helio G25 chip, a 6.53-inch HD+ display, a 5,000mAh battery, 13MP rear camera & a 5 Megapixel selfie camera. Redmi 9i comes with 4GB RAM & 64GB or 128GB internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card of up to 512GB.
The phone comes in three colors named Midnight Black, Sea Blue, and Nature Green. So the color options are also the same as for the Redmi 9A. Talking about the pricing, here is the price for India –
- 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM – Rs 8,299
- 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM – Rs 9,299
The phone goes on sale on September 18th in India & you can buy it via Flipkart or Mi.com.
Now, before you decide to go for it, it is worth mentioning that spending Rs 599 more gets you the Redmi 9 with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage as well but with better Helio G35 SOC, Dual rear cameras, & a fingerprint scanner. So in short, it would be worth spending some extra cash on the Redmi 9 instead of going for the Redmi 9i.
In fact, if at the same price as that of Redmi 9, there is the Narzo 10A by Realme that has a much better Helio G70 SOC & triple cameras. But, you will get 3GB RAM & 32GB storage for the same price so only go for the Narzo 10A if you want the best performance at Rs 8,999.
