A couple of weeks ago, the Redmi 9 was launched in Spain at a starting price of just €149 & now, Redmi is all set to launch the phone in China. The phone is launching on June 24th in the Chinese market & this was confirmed by the company’s announcement on Weibo.
The Redmi 10X Series was launched in China in May, but while that includes the mid-range 5G devices, the Redmi 9 is a budget phone.
The Redmi 9 features a nice design that includes a textured back panel & a smooth circular design around the camera setup. There is a Waterdrop notch on the front & a USB Type-C port on the bottom. The display on the front is a 6.53-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD panel & there is MediaTek Helio G80 SOC paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32/64GB eMMC 5.1 storage.
The Quad camera array on the rear includes a primary 13 Megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture lens, a secondary 8 Megapixel ultrawide camera, a 5 Megapixel macro & a 2 Megapixel depth sensor. There is an 8 Megapixel camera for selfies. Finally, there is a 5,020mAh battery & support for 18W fast charging.
The Redmi 8 is currently selling in China for 799 Yuan or around $100, so it would be interesting to see at what price Redmi 9 launches in China.
