Xiaomi is raining down smartphones in India since the beginning of this year, and it is not stopping any time soon. Recently, Xiaomi launched Redmi 8A in India, and now it is gearing up to launch another Redmi smartphone in India. Well, this time It is Redmi 8, the successor of Redmi 7 which launched almost six months back.

Xiaomi India Managing Director and Global VP Manu Kumar Jain confirmed the launch date of Redmi 8 in his tweet, which is going to be October 9. And Additionally, he also talked about some of the specs, especially about the Camera and the Battery of Redmi 8.

Earlier, a Redmi device was spotted in TENAA Certification site in China with model number M1908C3IC, and it is speculated that this is going to be Redmi 8. According to the Certification, the Redmi device has a 6.21-inch HD+ display with Dot Notch & an aspect ratio of 19:9. The device is rumoured to be powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core processor.

ALLEGED REDMI 8 SPECS

Talking about the Rear camera setup, unlike the Redmi 7, Redmi 8 will feature a 12 Megapixel primary sensor but this time with Sony IMX 363 Sensor, and it is accompanied by a 5 Megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, there may be an 8 Megapixel selfie camera reside in the notch. The device will come with a fingerprint sensor as well as a much needed 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Redmi 8 will come with 2/3GB RAM coupled with 16/32GB Inbuilt-storage, and the 4GB RAM variant is expected to launch as well. Since the Redmi 7 launched with a triple card slot for two nano-SIM cards and one micro-SD card, it is being guessed that Redmi 8 will also feature a triple card slot.

As far as the SOC is concerned, it is most likely the Snapdragon 439 with Adreno 505 GPU & this information was revealed recently in the Google Play Console listing. It is worth mentioning that this is the same chip that powers the Redmi 8A, so that’s weird. The Redmi 7 launched with Snapdragon 632 SOC, so Snapdragon 439 doesn’t seem like a good choice for the Redmi 8. Hence, you should consider this info with a pinch of salt.

Well, as Xiaomi is yet to unveil the new MIUI 11, so this device will run on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. To keep the lights on, the smartphone may come with a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. To remind you, the Redmi 7 launched in India for Rs 7,999. So, the Redmi 8 price could start between Rs 7,999-8,999.

Well, the main question is that – Will Xiaomi provide 18W fast charger in the box? Or Will it follow the tradition to ship the device with 10W fast charger in the box. We think Xiaomi would provide 10W Charger in the box & so you would’ve to buy the 18W Charger separately if you want fast charging.
