The number series by Redmi is known for the great value for money budget phones, and the most recent launch under this series was the Redmi 12C, which featured an Helio G85 chipset, a 50MP camera, and a 5,000mAH battery. The main USP of the Redmi 12 is the design. The phone has a shiny glass back and flat sides, giving it a premium look and feel. It is rare to see a budget phone with a glass back these days, so this makes the Redmi 12 stand out from the rest. There are three cameras on the back but no camera island, which, added to the fact that there is little to no text, gives the rear a clean look. The phone has a hole punch cutout for the selfie camera on the front and a noticeable bottom bezel.

Unlike the Redmi 12C, which had a micro-USB port, the Redmi 12 has a Type-C port. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an IR blaster.
