Redmi 12 5G is now official in the Indian market and is a budget 5G phone. The two main highlights of the phone are the design & the performance. It is also the first phone under the Redmi 12 series to launch in India. The price starts at ₹11,999, and for that price, you are getting some rare features in this price range.

Starting with the design, Redmi 12 5G is the first phone under the Redmi’s number series to feature a glass back. There is Gorilla Glass 3 on the front and back. The phone is IP53 rated and weighs around 199g.

There is a dual camera setup on the rear, and the cameras are placed individually instead of on a camera island. This is a design similar to Samsung’s phones. The 3.5mm headphone jack is on the top alongside the IR blaster.

There is a single downward-firing speaker and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button.

Redmi 12 5G has a dual camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 lens, whereas the second camera has a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the phone has an 8MP camera.

The display is a 6.79-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD with up to 90Hz refresh rate and 450 nits brightness. It is also the Redmi’s biggest display on any phone.

The battery size is 5,000mAh, and there s support for 18W charging. In the box, you get a 22.5W adapter.

Under the hood, Redmi 12 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. It is a 4nm-based chip and the only 4nm SOC in this price segment. There is an octa-core CPU clocked at up to 2.2GHz.

Finally, Android 13 runs out of the box with MIUI 14 on top. Redmi 12 5G will get 2 Android OS updates and security patch updates for the next three years.
