The Redmi 9 launched in July last year and was later launched in India as the Redmi 9 Prime. Well, it’s been more than a year since the launch of that phone, and now, Xiaomi is all set to launch its successor, the Redmi 10. The launch date is not yet known, but already the phone has been listed online by Courts, a consumer electronics and furniture retailer in Singapore. This listing reveals not just the design but also the specifications and the pricing of the device (though the price may change when the phone is actually launched).
Design-wise, the biggest highlight of the Redmi 10 is going to be its huge camera module on the back. This camera module includes four cameras in it, and as the text on the camera module reveals, the main camera here includes a 50 Megapixel sensor. So, that’s interesting! The fingerprint scanner sits on the right side and doubles as the power button. Also, the phone was listed in three colors named Peddle White, Sea Blue & Carbon Gray.
There is a USB Type-C port on the bottom alongside which is the primary microphone and the primary speaker grill. On the top, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, the second speaker, and the second mic. The SIM card tray is on the left side, and the volume rockers are on the right side. The phone is made out of plastic. 249
As per the listing, Redmi 10 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 SOC, and this chip is yet to be announced by MediaTek. So, it seems like this is going to be the first phone powered by this SOC. As the name shows, this is a better SOC than the Helio G85 but sits below the Helio G90. For comparison, the Redmi 9 of last year had the Helio G80 SOC.
The variant listed has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.
On the front, Redmi 10 has a 6.5-inch panel with a Full-HD+ resolution & a 90Hz refresh rate. We are expecting it to be an LCD, but it is not 100% confirmed. The display comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Android 11 runs out of the box with MIUI 12 on top, and there is a big 5000mAh battery underneath with 18W fast charging.
Speaking of the cameras, there are four cameras on the back that include a primary 50 Megapixel sensor, a secondary 8 Megapixel ultrawide, and two 2MP cameras. On the front, there is an 8 Megapixel selfie shooter. This 50 Megapixel sensor is most probably the 1/2.76-inch ISOCELL JN1 sensor by Samsung.
Finally, speaking of the pricing, Redmi 10 is listed on the Courts’ website with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage for 249 Singapore Dollars which translates to around Rs 13,500. But, if there is a 4GB or a 64GB variant as well, then the starting price is going to be even lower. We cannot just directly convert the pricing and assume it to be the official price for any market so we’ll have to wait to know at what price it launches in other markets. Also, like last year, there are chances of the Redmi 10 in Singapore to launch as Redmi 10 Prime in India.
