The Red Magic 8 Pro series was launched in China in December, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC and a unique design. Today, the Pro model was launched in the global market. The Red Magic 8 Pro is coming to various markets, including North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Red Magic has priced the phone lower than the Red Magic 7S Pro, which is incredible considering how many upgrades the 8 Pro brings over the 7S Pro.
The phone comes in two designs. One is named “Matte” with a plain back design and not a lot of text. The other is named “Void” and has a transparent back design. As expected, the latter is more expensive. Apart from the back design, there is no difference between the two designs. On the front, the phone has a flat display with minimal bezels all around. The side bezels on the phone are 1.48mm, the top bezel is 1.68mm, and the bottom bezel is 2.28mm. This results in a 93.7% screen-to-body ratio.
The phone also has an under-display selfie camera to have an uninterrupted content consumption experience. Underneath, the phone has an ICE 11.0 cooling system. This includes a 20,000 RPM high-speed turbofan, Aircraft Grade Aluminum Alloy, Graphene, Copper Foil Under The Screen, and more. The frame is metallic, and the back has glass.
There are 520Hz shoulder buttons, 960Hz Multi-finger Touch Sampling Rate, a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB 3.1, a Type-C port, stereo speakers, and more.
As for the specs, Red Magic 8 Pro has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. There is a 6.8-inch Full-HD+ 120Hz AMOLED display with 1300 nits peak brightness and Gorilla Glass protection. The battery size is 6,000mAh, and there is 65W fast charging support. Red Magic provided a 65W GaN charger in the box. It is worth mentioning that in China, the Red Magic 8 Pro supports 80W charging. There is also the Red Magic 8 Pro+ in China with a 5,0-00mAh battery and 165W charging.
On the back, there are three cameras. The primary camera has a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. There is a 16MP selfie camera.
Finally, RedMagic OS 6.0 runs out of the box, based on Android 13.
The phone comes in two storage options, and here’s the pricing –
- 12GB + 256GB (Matte) – $649 / €649 / £579
- 16GB + 512GB (Void) – $799 / €749 / £709
The phone will go on sale on February 2.
