Last year in September, Realme launched its first Android tablet named the Realme Pad, which featured a large 10.4-inch display, Helio G80 SOC, and a large 7,100mAh battery. The tablet launched with Android 11-based Realme UI for Pad running out of the box. Now, a couple of weeks ago, Realme said in an FAQ on its official forum that the tablet will not get any OS upgrades in the future, which, in simple words, meant no Android 12 update for it. But now, Realme has made an official announcement on its forum saying that the Realme Pad will get the Android 12 Update this year.
The Android 12 Update for this tablet is coming in Q3 2022. Moreover, the tablet will continue receiving security updates for three years. Realme announced that some of the features that Android 12 will bring to the tablet include an enhanced lock screen and notification UI, dedicated one-handed mode, scrolling screenshots, improved widgets, etc.
It is good to see Realme making this announcement because there was a public backlash when we knew that the tablet will not get any OS updates in the future. Another reason for this announcement could be the recent launch of new Samsung and Motorola tablets which promised Android 12 update.
