The Realme GT Neo 5 is now official in the Chinese market, and this is a high-end phone from the brand, with the main USP being charging & the design. This is the successor to the Realme GT Neo 3, which featured 150W fast charging. The GT Neo 5 goes one step further and has 240W fast charging support. An interesting fact is that 240W is the highest charging power that the current Type-C standard supports.
Design-wise, this is quite a unique-looking phone, primarily because of the RGB light on the back of the side of the camera module. The area around this RGB light is transparent. This is the first Realme phone to feature an RGB light, and since it is not a plain white LED as in the Nothing Phone 1, the RGB light on the GT Neo 5 can show different colors. You can choose from 25 different colors so that it can be used as a notification light. For example, if you get a message, this RGB light will glow in green, or if the battery is low, it will glow in red.
The phone has an AG glass back with a matte finish, and while the white & black colors have a plain look, the purple color variant has stripes on the back.
Under the hood, the phone has the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, and for better thermals, there is a large 6580mm² cooling system which includes a large 4500mm² vapor chamber. The phone features LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
Realme GT Neo 5 comes in two versions when it comes to battery & charging speed. One with a 5,000mAh battery & 150W fast charging, whereas the other with 4,600mAh battery & 240W charging. And both variants come with their respective 150W & 240W adapters in the box.
On the front, Realme GT Neo 5 has a flat 6.74-inch 10-bit OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 1400 nits local peak brightness, and 1.5K resolution (2772 x 1240 pixels). There is a hole punch cutout in the middle. The chin is quite slim at 2.31mm. The fingerprint sensor is placed under the display.
Speaking of the cameras, there is a triple-camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS and an f/1.88 lens. The ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor and a 112-degree lens. The third camera is for macro shots & has a 2MP sensor. For selfies, there is a 16MP sensor. So, the camera setup is the same as the recently launched OnePlus 11R.
Finally, Android 13 runs out of the box with Realme UI 4.0.
