In February, Realme GT Neo 5 was launched in China, featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset & RGB light on the rear. The phone was launched globally as the Realme GT 3 in the same month. Today, the company launched the successor in China, the Realme GT 5. This is the company’s first phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

It retains the unique aspects of the Realme GT 3, such as the transparent design on the rear, RGB light, super fast charging & more.

Realme GT 5

Design-wise, Realme GT 5 looks like a more polished version of the Realme GT 3. The camera module goes from one side to the other and has two big circles. This camera module has a triple camera setup, an LED flash, and the RGB light. The phone has a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support, an X-axis linear motor, an under-display fingerprint scanner, an IR blaster, and an NFC.

The display is an OLED 6.74-inch 144Hz 1.5K (2772 x 1240 pixels) with 10-bit color depth and 1400 nit peak brightness. Realme calls it the “Pro-XDR display.” This sounds like the same display as the Realme GT 3. The hole punch cutout has a 16MP Samsung S5K3P9 sensor with up to 1080p 30fps video recording support.

Under the hood, Realme GT 5 has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, paired with up to 24GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. The phone has the PixelWorks X7 display chip for better picture quality and an improved gaming experience.

Realme GT 5 has a nine-layer cooling system with a total heat dissipation area of 20,827mm² for better thermals.

Realme GT 5

Speaking of rear cameras, Realme GT 5 has a primary 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS, a secondary 8MP ultrawide, and a third 2MP macro camera. In short, it has the same camera sensor as the Realme GT 3.

The battery size depends on the charging speed. The variant with 150W charging has a 5,240mAh battery, whereas the one with 240W charging has a 4,600mAh battery. The phone comes with the 150W or 240W (depending on the variant) adapter in the box.

Finally, Android 13 runs out of the box with Realme UI 4.0.

The phone comes in two colors, and here is the pricing for China –

  • 12GB + 256GB (150W Charging) – ¥2999 (~$411)
  • 16GB + 512GB (150W Charging) – ¥3299 (~$452)
  • 24GB + 1TB (240W Charging) – ¥3799 (~$521)
