Today, Realme launched its first ‘9’ series phone in India named the Realme 9i, and as the name suggests, this is the successor to the Realme 8i of 2021. Interestingly, the Realme 8i launched last year at ₹13,999, and this year, the starting price remains the same for 9i. Some of the main highlights of this new device are Snapdragon 680 chipset, 33W charging, and a 50MP camera.
The phone comes with a camera module design similar to the Realme GT Neo 2, a high-end phone from the brand. The design on the back panel is named ‘ Stereo Prism Design’ by the brand, and it is said to be inspired by the interaction between light and prisms. There is a 3D Prism texture that consists of 3000 lines. The fingerprint scanner sits on the right side and doubles as the power button. The USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and the primary speaker are all present on the bottom. Realme 9i has stereo speakers.
On the front, the phone has a 6.6-inch LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate, a Full-HD+ resolution, and up to 180Hz touch sampling rate. There are five levels of refresh rates – 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, and 90Hz. The hole punch on the top left corner has a 16MP selfie shooter.
Under the hood, the phone has Snapdragon 680 SOC, and it is built on the 6nm process and has the Adreno 610 GPU. It is a non-5G chip. There is 4/6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64/128GB UFS 2.1 storage which can be expanded by a microSD card of up to 1TB. And yes, the phone has a triple card slot.
Speaking of the cameras, Realme 9i has three cameras on the back, where the primary shooter has a 50MP sensor and an f/1.8 aperture lens. There are two 2MP sensors for macro shots and the other for B&W photos. The primary camera can shoot up to FHD 30fps videos.
Finally, the phone has a 5,000mAh battery and comes with 33W fast charging support. Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 runs out of the box.
