Realme 8i Starting Price in India
Along with its first Android tablet, Realme also launched two new smartphones in the Indian market today, and one of them is the Realme 8i. It is now the cheapest phone under the Realme 8 lineup as it starts at ₹13,999. Interestingly, this is the same starting price as that of the Realme Pad. Anyways, for this price, the 8i offers some great features like the MediaTek Helio G96 chip, a 120Hz display, a 50MP camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and more.
Design-wise, the Realme 8i looks similar to the Realme 8. It has a similar square-shaped camera module, but instead of a Quad camera module, there is a triple camera setup. So, the fourth circle has the flash module, not a camera lens. The camera module also says 50MP, so this phone has a 50 Megapixel camera sensor. There is a flat panel on the front with a hole-punch cutout on the top left corner. The fingerprint scanner is on the right side. In terms of the ports, there is a Type-C port on the bottom, along with a headphone jack.
It should not be a surprise that the phone has a polycarbonate build since that’s normal for phones priced under 15,000.
Speaking of the specs, Realme 8i has a 6.6-inch IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full-HD+ resolution. The display supports six levels of refresh rate: 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz,120Hz. The touch-sampling rate is 180Hz, and the peak brightness of this panel is 600 nits. Now, the Realme 8 had a 60Hz display, but it was a Super AMOLED panel.
Under the hood, there is the MediaTekHelio G96 chipset, and going by the name, it seems like just a minor upgrade over the Helio G95, which powered the Realme 8. You get 4GB or 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB or 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. To expand the storage. you get a triple card slot as well. The phone has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging.
Coming to the cameras, there is a triple camera setup on the back that includes a primary 50 Megapixel shooter with an f/1.8 aperture lens, a secondary 2 Megapixel depth sensor, and a third 2 Megapixel macro camera. There is a 16 Megapixel camera on the front.
Finally, Realme UI 2.0 runs out of the box, which is based on Android 11.
Realme 8i comes in two colors named Space Black & Space Purple. The pricing is as follows –
4GB + 64GB – ₹13,999
6GB + 128GB – ₹15,999
The first sale is happening on the 14th of September, and you can buy the phone from Flipkart and Realme’s website.
