Realme 6 with MediaTek Helio G90T launched in India

In August last year, we got the Realme 5 Series in India & later the company launched a couple of more phones under this series like the Realme 5s & the Realme 5i. Today, Realme 6 Series launched in the Indian market & Realme has changed its pricing strategy a bit.

The Realme 6 is not a successor to the Realme 5 but rather a successor to the Realme 5 Pro. Similarly, the 6 Pro is a successor to the Realme X of last year. This is also the reason why the ‘6’ starts at Rs 12,999 in India, a price similar to the starting price of the Realme 5 Pro.

REALME 6 – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS

While the design is the same from the rear as previous Realme phones, there is a huge design change on the front. There is no longer a Waterdrop notch as that is now replaced with a punch-hole selfie camera. This also means that there is an LCD panel instead of AMOLED. The USB Type-C port is placed on the bottom along with the 3.5mm headphone jack & the speaker grill.

The fingerprint scanner is placed on the right side instead of on the rear and doubles as the power button. The volume rockers are on the left side. There is a triple card slot which means you can add two SIM cards & also a microSD card at the same time.

Even if there is an LCD panel instead of AMOLED, the screen has 90Hz refresh rate which makes the Realme 6 first phone at this price to have a high-refresh-rate display. It is a 6.5-inch display with Full-HD+ resolution & Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

Under the hood, there is the MediaTek Helio G90T SOC & this is the same SOC that powers the Redmi Note 8 Pro. This makes the Realme 6 one of the most powerful phones under Rs 15,000 in India since the performance is similar to that of Snapdragon 730G. One of the highlights of this SOC is its Mali-G76 GPU which beats even the Adreno 618 GPU of Snapdragon 730G. So for gaming, this phone is an absolute beast since there is also a 90Hz display.

There is 4/6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM & 64/128GB UFS 2.1 storage.

There is a Quad camera setup on the back that includes a primary 64 Megapixel camera with Samsung GW1 sensor, an 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens (119-degree), a 2 Megapixel B&W Portrait Lens, and a 2 Megapixel Macro lens. The primary camera can shoot 4K 30fps videos & there is UIS Video Stabilization.

The camera on the front is a 16 Megapixel unit with f/2.0 aperture.

Finally, there is a 4,300mAh battery & the phone comes with 30W VOOC Flash Charging. You get the fast charger in the box. Android 10 runs out of the box with Realme UI on top.
