The Realme 12 Pro series was launched in India in January, with a focus on the design and cameras. The Realme 12 Pro featured a 2x telephoto camera with OIS, a curved display, and a vegan leather finish on the back. The Realme 12 Pro+ featured a periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. Today, Realme launched the successors in the Indian market, the Realme 13 Pro & Realme 13 Pro+.
REALME 13 PRO
The Realme 13 Pro continues with the company’s signature design language. There is a circular camera module on the rear with a triple camera setup and an LED flash. The phone comes in three colors – Monet Gold, Emerald Green, and Monet Purple. The green color variant has a vegan leather finish on the back. The other two variants have a glass back. The phone has a stereo speaker setup and is IP65 certified.
On the front, the Realme 13 Pro features a curved display. It is a 6.7-inch OLED with a Full-HD+ resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colors, and 2000 nits local peak brightness. The fingerprint scanner is placed under the display. The display is protected with Gorilla Glass.
The battery is 5,200mAh and there is 45W fast charging support. For comparison, the Realme 12 Pro featured a 5,000mAh battery with 67W charging.
Coming to the performance, the phone has the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, versus the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in the Realme 12 Pro. On the AnTuTu benchmark, this SOC scores around 680,000 points. For better thermals, the phone uses a 4500mm² vapor chamber.
In terms of cameras, we are looking at a triple-camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor with OIS, and the ultrawide camera uses an 8MP sensor. The third camera is a 2MP macro sensor. For comparison, there was a 32MP 2x telephoto camera on the Realme 12 Pro.
The selfie shooter has a 32MP camera. The phone supports up to 4K 30fps video recording from the rear and the front cameras.
Finally, Android 14-based Realme UI 5.0 runs out of the box.
Here is the pricing –
- 8GB + 128GB – ₹26,999
- 8GB + 256GB – ₹28,999
- 12GB + 512GB – ₹31,999
For comparison, the Realme 12 Pro started at ₹25,999, so for ₹1,000 more, you are getting a better performance, a brighter display, and a bigger battery. The camera setup is better on the Realme 12 Pro due to the 2x telephoto camera. But, the Realme 13 Pro offers an upgraded selfie camera. Still, at ₹26,999, it is better to spend money on the Realme 12 Pro+, which sells for the same price nowadays and offers a better primary camera, and a 3x periscope telephoto camera.
REALME 13 PRO+
The Realme 13 Pro+ comes in two colors – Monet Gold and Emerald Green. So, there is no Monet Purple option for the Plus model. Design-wise, the phone looks the same as the vanilla model. It even has the same Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, the same 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display, and the same 5,200mAh battery. There is the same 8MP ultrawide camera and the same 32MP selfie shooter.
So, what’s different?
Well, the Realme 13 Pro+ has a larger 1/1.56″ 50MP Sony LYT-701 sensor for the primary camera with OIS. There is also a 3x periscope telephoto camera on the rear with a 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor and OIS. The charging speed has been upgraded to 80W.
And well, that’s all that makes the Realme 13 Pro+ different from the Realme 13 Pro.
Here is the pricing –
- 8GB + 256GB – ₹32,999
- 12GB + 256GB – ₹34,999
- 12GB + 512GB – ₹36,999
Well, the Realme 13 Pro+ is not priced aggressively. The chipset that you get for the price is average, and the main highlights of this phone are its design and cameras. As we have seen in the past, the prices of Realme smartphones drop significantly during sales, so it is better to wait if you are planning to get your hands on this device.
