Before 2019, Qualcomm used to launch only one flagship 800-series SOC every year, but last year, the company launched Snapdragon 855 in the first half and Snapdragon 855+ in the other. Similar to last year, the QualcommSnapdragon 865+ chipset was announced today & as the name suggests, it is an upgrade over the Snapdragon 865 that we have seen powering a ton of Android flagships this year.
Talking about the improvements over the Snapdragon 865, the Snapdragon 865+ comes with the Kyro 585 Prime core clocked at 3.1GHz compared to the 2.82GHz in case of the Snapdragon 865. This, according to Qualcomm, results in a 10% performance boost.
Also, while the GPU is the same, i.e., Adreno 650, the higher frequency makes it perform 10% better than the GPU of Snapdragon 865. The Snapdragon 865+ also features Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 which means Wi-FI speeds up to 3.6Gbps, the fastest of any mobile Wi-Fi offering in the industry.
Well, apart from these improvements, there isn’t any significant change, and most of the specs are the same as Snapdragon 865.
