Before 2019, Qualcomm used to launch only one flagship 800-series SOC every year, but last year, the company launched Snapdragon 855 in the first half and Snapdragon 855+ in the other. Similar to last year, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset was announced today & as the name suggests, it is an upgrade over the Snapdragon 865 that we have seen powering a ton of Android flagships this year.
Talking about the improvements over the Snapdragon 865, the Snapdragon 865+ comes with the Kyro 585 Prime core clocked at 3.1GHz compared to the 2.82GHz in case of the Snapdragon 865. This, according to Qualcomm, results in a 10% performance boost.
Also, while the GPU is the same, i.e., Adreno 650, the higher frequency makes it perform 10% better than the GPU of Snapdragon 865. The Snapdragon 865+ also features Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 which means Wi-FI speeds up to 3.6Gbps, the fastest of any mobile Wi-Fi offering in the industry.
Well, apart from these improvements, there isn’t any significant change, and most of the specs are the same as Snapdragon 865.
As we know already, the Asus ROG Phone 3 and the Legion Gaming Phone by Lenovo are two upcoming gaming phones featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset.
