[POLL] Notches on Android smartphones – What’s your take on this?

Published

on

Apple launched the iPhone X last year with a notch design and this year, we have seen so many Android smartphone makers copying the same design for their phones. In fact, iPhone X’s notch packs a bunch of sensors like Infrared camera, Flood illuminator, Mic, Camera, Ambient light sensor, dot projector and proximity sensor for accurate facial recognition and other stuff. But, when it comes to Android phone makers adding notches to the displays, there is nothing unique as all are copying the iPhone X’s design.

At the MWC event, we saw Asus proudly mentioning that the notch on the Zenfone 5 is smaller than that on iPhone X. Seriously, Asus? What’s the point of adding a notch if all it features is the camera, earpiece, and the normal sensors? We know that smartphone makers are trying to reduce the bezels but adding a notch is surely not the best way to do it!

Even companies like Huawei, which are known for their unique smartphone designs, are adopting the same design language by adding notches to their phones. The list of companies that are going to launch ( or have launched) phones with notches includes names like LG, Asus, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and more.

What’s your take on this? Do you like a phone with a notch on top? Do let us know your views by voting below.
