The Poco X5 series was launched globally in February, which included the vanilla X5 & the X5 Pro. The X5 Pro was launched in the Indian market the same day. But it took Poco over a month to launch the vanilla model in India. The Poco X5 5G is now official in the Indian market and is not much different than the Poco X4 Pro 5G.
The design has changed from the rear and is similar to the X5 Pro. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the side & the phone has a plastic build. There is an IR blaster on top alongside the headphone jack. The phone has a single bottom-firing speaker.
On the front, Poco X5 5G has a flat display with a hole punch cutout in the center & a quite thick bottom bezel. This 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display has a 120Hz refresh rate, 1200 nits peak brightness & a Full-HD+ resolution. So on paper, this is the same display as the X4 Pro 5G.
It is good to see Poco not going for an LCD because that’s something most brands do at this price with their 5G phones.
Under the hood, the phone has the Snapdragon 695 5G SOC & it is the same chip we saw inside the Poco X4 Pro 5G. The phone comes with 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM & 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.
Camera-wise, Poco X5 5G has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 48MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. For selfies, the phone has a 13MP camera.
The phone has a large 5,000mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging. One disappointing thing is the software because Poco X5 5G runs on Android 12 out of the box instead of Android 13.
Poco X5 5G is available in three colors – Jaguar Black, Supernova Green, and Wildcat Blue. Here is the pricing for the Indian market –
- 6GB + 128GB – ₹18,999
- 8GB + 256GB – ₹20,999
