UPDATE – THE PRICING OF THE RENO 6Z FOR THE VIETNAMESE MARKET HAS LEAKED
As shared by a user named Chun on Twitter, the expected price of Reno 6Z for Vietnam is 9,490,000 Vietnamese Dong which translates to around $412. Now, the official launch price may or may not be exactly the same. The image also says that if you pre-order between July 14th – 21st, then you get some extra benefits. So, that might be hinting towards the launch happening tomorrow.
The Oppo Reno 6 series went official in May, and currently, this series offers three smartphones, namely the Reno 6, Reno 6 Pro, and Reno 6 Pro+. But, there is one more phone soon joining this series named the Oppo Reno 6Z. As the name suggests, this would be the successor of Reno 5Z, which launched in April this year with specs including a Dimensity 800U 5G SOC, Quad cameras, 30W charging & more. Now, while we have no information on the launch date of Reno 6Z, the official images of the phone were shared by Evan Blass on Twitter which reveals the overall design.
So, design-wise, the Oppo Reno 6Z resembles the Reno 6 as it has a similar-looking camera module that has three cameras in it. The 5G branding is on the camera module as well. There is no side-facing or rear-facing fingerprint scanner because it is placed under the display. There is a flat panel on the front with a single hole-punch cutout on the top left corner. The USB Type-C port is on the bottom alongside the 3.5mm headphone jack. So, while the Reno 6 misses out on a headphone jack, the Reno 6Z doesn’t.
As some leaked specifications have suggested, there is an AMOLED panel with Full-HD+ resolution, but it is a normal 60Hz panel, so no high-refresh rate is there. The display gets a Gorilla Glass 5 protection & that hole-punch on the top left has a 32 Megapixel selfie shooter in it.
Under the hood, Oppo Reno 6Z has the MediaTek Dimensity 800U SOC, and interestingly, this is the same chip that powered the Reno 5Z. So, in terms of the performance, there isn’t any upgrade over the predecessor. The phone is also reported to have the same 4,310mAh battery as the Reno 5Z, along with 30W fast charging. So, in that case as well, there is no difference between the two.
The triple camera setup on the rear is expected to include a primary 64 Megapixel sensor paired with an 8 Megapixel ultrawide & a 2 Megapixel macro camera. For comparison, the Reno 5Z had a Quad camera array with a primary 48 Megapixel sensor. ColorOS 11.1 will be running out of the box, which is based on Android 11. One of the storage options is reported to be 8GB + 256GB.
So, it looks like the Reno 6Z is not a big upgrade over the Reno 5Z, and that’s why the company is going to launch this phone just three months after the launch of Reno 5Z. The only upgrades are a 64MP camera compared to 48MP, a different design, and a 32MP selfie camera compared to 16MP.
