The Oppo Reno 12 series has launched in the Indian market, and as always, the phones do not have the same specifications as the Chinese models. In China, the Reno 12 has the MediaTek Dimensity 8250 SOC, whereas the Reno 12 Pro gets the Dimensity 9200+ chipset. But, in the Indian market, both phones feature the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy SOC. Oppo has a track record of keeping the prices of the Reno series smartphones on the higher side, and the Reno 12 series is no exception.
OPPO RENO 12
The design is one of the highlights of the Reno series, and so the Reno 12 comes with a pretty nice-looking design. There is Gorilla Glass 7i on the front, and the rest of the phone is made of polycarbonate. The phone is IP65-certified. There is a stereo speaker setup, an IR blaster, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. The phone is pretty slim at 7.57mm and weighs 177g.
Speaking of the specifications, the Oppo Reno 12 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy chipset. The “Energy” is apparently in the name because this is a power-efficient version of the Dimensity 7300. The battery is 5,000mAh and the phone supports 80W fast wired charging.
The display is a 6.7-inch 3D curved AMOLED with a Full-HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display supports HDR10+ and has a 10-bit color depth. The peak HDR brightness is 1200 nits.
As for the cameras, there are three on the rear. The primary rear camera has a 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor with OIS, the secondary ultrawide camera uses an 8MP Sony IMX355 sensor, and the third camera uses a 2MP macro sensor. The selfie camera has a 32MP sensor. There is 4K 30fps video recording support for both the front and rear cameras.
Finally, the phone runs on Android 14-based ColorOS 14.1 and will get three Android updates.
The color options are Astro Silver, Matte Brown, and Sunset Peach. The phone comes in a single 8GB + 256GB variant, and the price is ₹32,999.
OPPO RENO 12 PRO
The Reno 12 Pro does not look much different from the vanilla model, except for that strip on the rear, which differentiates it from the vanilla model. The phone has a glass back and a quad-curved display on the front.
The chipset is the same, and so is the battery and charging speed. The display specifications are the same as well, but the protection is Gorilla Glass Victus 2. In terms of cameras, the only difference on the rear is the third camera, which uses a 50MP Samsung JN6 sensor and a 2X telephoto lens, compared to a 2MP macro camera on the Reno 12.
And those are all the differences.
The Oppo Reno 12 Pro comes in two colors – Space Brown and Sunset Gold. It comes in two variants, and here is the pricing –
- 12GB + 256GB – ₹36,999
- 12GB + 512GB – ₹40,999
