A year ago, Oppo launched its first foldable phone, the Find N. The main USP of that phone was its form factor because it looked quite different when compared to other foldable phones in the market. It wasn’t a tall phone like the Galaxy Z Fold series which helped in using this phone with one hand without any issues. The FInd N had an outer display with a familiar 18:9 aspect ratio which meant no UI issues when running apps, something that is the case with most foldable phones due to the weird aspect ratios.
Now, Oppo has unveiled its next-generation foldable phone, the Oppo Find N2. This phone brings some significant upgrades over the predecessor, the biggest of those being the trimmed-down weight and thickness.
Oppo went for a new and improved hinge design and it resulted in a 36% reduction in the hinge weight and a 37% reduction in the volume. One of the biggest reasons for this weight reduction is the use of Carbon fiber material. This hinge also ensures that the crease width is reduced by up to 60%. Oppo says this hinge design also uses lesser parts than the predecessor.
As for the numbers, Oppo Find N2 with a glass back weighs around 237g whereas the one with a leather back weighs 233g. The thickness when folded is 14.6mm whereas when unfolded, the phone is 7.4mm thick.
This year, we also get the “Hasselblad” branding on the camera module. Speaking of cameras, there are three on the back. The primary camera has a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS. The ultrawide camera has a 48MP Sony IMX581 sensor and finally, the telephoto lens has a 32MP Sony IMX709 sensor. The selfie cameras on the outer and the inner displays are the same and both have a 32MP sensor.
The phone also gets the MariSiliconX NPU for better image processing. As for Hasselblad additions, there is the Hasselblad Pro Mode, Hasselblad XPAN Mode, Hasselblad Natural Color, etc.
Under the hood, the Oppo Find N2 packs the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SOC so it does not get the newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. There is up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The battery size is 4,520mAh and there is 67W fast charging support. The phone does not support wireless charging.
Finally, speaking of the displays, the Oppo Find N2 has an outer display that measures 5.54 inches and has a 17.7:9 aspect ratio. The bezels are slimmer and the refresh rate is up to 120Hz. The foldable display measures 7.1 inches and thanks to LTPO tech, it has an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz. The outer display has a peak brightness of 1,350 nits, whereas the inner display is even brighter at 1,550 nits.
Finally, Android 13 runs out of the box with ColorOS 13.
