In February last year, the OnePlus Ace 2 was launched in China with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The same phone was launched in the Indian market as the OnePlus 11R. Today, the OnePlus Ace 3 was launched in China, and this phone is coming to the global market as the OnePlus 12R. The phone comes with some noticeable upgrades over the predecessor, and the starting price is still lower than last year.
Design-wise, the OnePlus Ace 3 looks similar to the Ace 2. Apart from the new color options, the other noticeable design changes include a metal frame and the extra LED flash module outside the circular camera module. The phone still has the same circular camera module with a triple camera setup and a curved display with a hole punch cutout.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Ace 3 has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, compared to Ace 2’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. This also means the phone has UFS 4.0 storage, versus UFS 3.1 in the Ace 2. The battery is 5,500mAh, up from 5,000mAh in the predecessor. The charging speed remains the same – 100W.
The display is upgraded as well. While the resolution (1.5K) and the refresh rate (120Hz) are the same, the OnePlus Ace 3 has a bigger panel (6.78″ vs. 6.67″), and the peak brightness is upgraded to 4,500 nits. This is also an LTPO panel, meaning the refresh rate can go as low as 1Hz when required. This is a 10-bit display with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.
Finally, let’s talk about the cameras. OnePlus Ace 3 retains the camera setup of the OnePlus Ace 2. So, the triple camera setup on the rear includes a primary 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro camera. The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor. While the rear camera can shoot 4K 60fps videos, there is no 4K video recording support for the selfie camera.
In China, the phone runs on ColorOS 14.0, based on Android 14.
