OnePlus’ launch strategy includes launching flagship phones in both halves of the year. In the first half, we get the main series of phones, whereas, in the 2nd half, the OnePlus launches the slightly upgraded “T” series flagships. Last year, the company only launched one phone under the “T” series named the OnePlus 8T, but the year before, we got the OnePlus 7T, 7T Pro & 7T Pro McLaren. This year, OnePlus won’t launch the 9T, but we will still get at least one phone under the “T” series. As per AndroidCentral, this phone is named the OnePlus 9RT. Apart from the name, the AndroidCentral report also revealed some major specifications and upgrades this phone brings.
So, as the name shows, this phone is a slightly upgraded version of the OnePlus 9R, so pricing-wise, it will sit between the 9R & the 9. The similarities include a 120Hz AMOLED and a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging. The processor is the same, i.e., Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, but this time, it is a higher-binned version which means it would offer slightly better performance. Moreover, while the OnePlus 9R has a 48 Megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor, the OnePlus 9RT is getting a 50 Megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor.
This is the same camera sensor that is there on the OnePlus 9, 9 Pro & also the OnePlus Nord 2. Unlike the OnePlus 9 & 9 Pro, the 50MP sensor on the 9RT will be the primary sensor, not the one for the ultrawide camera.
And last, but not least, OxygenOS 12 will be running out of the box, which means it would be the first OnePlus phone to launch with Android 12 out of the box.
Finally, speaking of the launch and availability, the phone is coming in October, so we still have more than a month for the launch. Also, the phone will launch in China and India but not in Europe or in India.
