The OnePlus 9RT is now official, at least in China. It is the newest flagship offering from the brand and brings some significant upgrades over the OnePlus 9R, the phone that it succeeds. First, there is the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SOC compared to the Snapdragon 870 that powered the 9R. Second, there is a new 50 Megapixel camera sensor, compared to a 48MP sensor on the 9R. It also gets a bigger display which is even bigger than the OnePlus 9.
Design-wise, the only change when compared to the OnePlus 9R is in the way the triple cameras are laid out on the back. The camera module is bigger in size as well. Apart from this, there is the same button and port placement, the same flat screen on the front & the same hole punch cutout in the corner.
Speaking of the cameras first, the phone has a 50 Megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor for the primary shooter, and this is the same camera sensor that is there on the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro & the OnePlus Nord 2. The thing to note is that while this sensor is used for taking ultrawide photos in the case of the OnePlus 9 & 9 Pro, it sits behind the main lens in the case of the OnePlus 9RT. Along with this sensor, there is a secondary 16MP sensor that is used for taking ultrawide shots. Finally, the phone has a 2MP macro sensor. The main camera has OIS as well.
On the front, the phone has a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor which has remained unchanged for a lot of years now.
As for the display, it is a 6.62-inch Samsung’s E4 AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 600Hz touch-sampling rate. Interestingly, the Realme GT Neo 2 has the same panel, not just in terms of the refresh rate but also in terms of size. There is absolutely no difference when we compare displays on both phones.
The chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, which is the flagship SOC from Qualcomm for this year and is much better when it comes to performance over the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870. There is also LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The phone gets a 4,500mAh cell inside and supports 65W fast charging. Finally, in China, the OnePlus 9RT runs ColorOS 11 out of the box.
