OnePlus 9RT launching in India on December 16

The phone launched in China in October

In October, OnePlus 9RT made its debut in the Chinese market, and this phone launched as an upgrade over the OnePlus 9R. There were some significant upgrades over the 9R, including a new and more powerful chip, a new camera sensor, etc. Well, two months after its launch in China, OnePlus is going to launch this phone in the Indian market.

According to Max Jambor, the launch is scheduled to take place on the 16th of December.

OnePlus 9RT

Design-wise, the 9RT has a different camera module design and also one less camera as compared to the OnePlus 9R. Apart from that, there is absolutely no difference between the two phones.

There is a 6.62-inch E4 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate & Full-HD+ resolution. Under the hood, the OnePlus 9RT has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip, so that’s a big jump in performance over the Snapdragon 870 of the 9R. The phone also has LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. There is the same 4,500mAh cell inside, and the phone supports 65W fast charging.

In terms of the cameras, while there is one less camera on the back, the primary sensor is the 50 Megapixel Sony IMX766 which we saw on the OnePlus 9, 9 Pro & the OnePlus Nord 2. For comparison, the OnePlus 9R had a 48MP IMX586 sensor. And the primary sensor has OIS as well. There is a 16MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro camera on the 9RT. So, while the primary camera is upgraded, the macro camera gets a downgrade from 5MP to 2MP. There is a 16MP camera for selfies.

In China, the OnePlus 9RT starts at ¥3299, which translates to around ₹38,500, but that’s the price territory of the OnePlus 9R in India right now. Also, the OnePlus 9 starts at ₹45,000, so it is going to be quite interesting to see how the company places the 9RT in between these two phones since that’s where it belongs.
