We are already into the second month of 2021 and until today, we hadn’t seen any major leak regarding the OnePlus 9 lineup. The last major leak was in December last year when the hands-on images of the OnePlus 9 showed us the design of the phone and we also got to know the major specs. Well, guess what, we now have the hands-on images of the OnePlus 9 Pro and these were shared by Dave2D on YouTube. Keeping everything else aside, one interesting thing that these images reveal is OnePlus’ partnership with Hasselblad, a company known for its medium format cameras and lenses.
The last time we saw such a partnership between a smartphone brand and Hasselblad was when Motorola unveiled the Hasselblad True Zoom camera moto mod.
As we can see, the design of the camera module is similar to that of the OnePlus 9 but there is an extra camera, Laser Autofocus system, the secondary microphone & also the “Hasselblad” branding. Dave2D also shared some photos of the camera app on this device and it shows things like 3.3X Zoom, Tilt-Shift camera mode, etc. As Dave2D mentioned in this video, it is very rare that we see a company like Hasselblad doing partnerships with phone makers. This is a company known for super expensive camera gear and its branding on the OnePlus 9 Pro’s camera module might be suggesting that OnePlus is now series about cameras on its phones because the cameras on OnePlus devices have always been average when compared to the competition.
Anyways, speaking of the rest of the design, the OnePlus 9 Pro has a curved display on the front and it is a 1440p 120Hz AMOLED panel just like on the OnePlus 8 Pro of last year. The alert slider and the power button are on the right whereas the left side has volume rockers.
The specifications of the OnePlus 9 Pro are still a mystery but all we know is that this is going to be the highest-end phone from OnePlus, at least for the first half of 2021, so don’t be surprised to see Snapdragon 888 SOC and up to 12GB RAM.
