OnePlus 3 & 3T to get Android P update, says the company

It’s been a couple of years since the OnePlus 3 and 3T were officially launched. Initially launched with Android Marshmallow, the phones were updated to Android Nougat and Android 8.0 Update in past two years. The company previously announced that the Android 8.1 Oreo update will be the last major Android update for both these devices but looks like the company has changed its mind. Instead of updating these phones to Android 8.1, the company has decided to roll out the Android P update for OnePlus 3 and 3T as soon as it is ready.

So, if you were waiting for Android 8.1 on your OnePlus 3 or 3T, then you might have to wait a bit longer since your phone will directly get Android P update. Now, once the OnePlus 6, 5T and 5 are updated to Android P, we can expect the rollout for the previous generation. So, expect the update to arrive by the end of this year. On the official Forum, OnePlus said –

Over the past few months, we have been working closely with Google on the Android P Beta program. Thanks to everyone’s participation and continued feedback, the progress we have made together has been greatly accelerated. The Android P update will be available on the OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5/T and OnePlus 3/3T, in this order.
