Last year, OnePlus launched two flagship phones: OnePlus 11 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and the OnePlus 11R with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The OnePlus 11R was an India-exclusive device that was available in China as the OnePlus Ace 2. Today, alongside the OnePlus 12, the company also unveiled the OnePlus 12R. And unlike last year, the OnePlus 12R is available in all the major markets, including India, North America & Europe.
The phone brings some significant upgrades over the predecessor, and the most interesting part is the pricing. Compared to the OnePlus 11R, the starting price of the 12R remains unchanged.
It is worth mentioning that the OnePlus 12R is the same phone that was launched in China as the OnePlus Ace 3.
Design-wise, the phone takes notes from the OnePlus 12. There is a circular camera module on the rear with a triple camera setup and the same color as the rest of the body. The phone has a curved display with a hole punch cutout in the center, an alert slider on the left, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. While the OnePlus 11R had a plastic frame, the 12R has an aluminum frame.
There is a slower USB 2.0 Type-C port, and the phone lacks any IP rating. There is no wireless charging support.
The display is a 6.78-inch 1.5K (2780 x 1264 pixels) 10-bit LTPO 4.0 AMOLED with 1-120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The peak brightness of this panel is 4,500 nits, and there is 2,160Hz PWM dimming, the same as the OnePlus 12. The panel supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 12R has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, the 2023’s flagship SOC. There is LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage (UFS 3.1 in the 128GB variant). The battery is 5,500mAh, the largest ever on a OnePlus flagship. There is 100W fast-wired charging. The phone is rocking the same dual vapor-chamber cooling system as the OnePlus 12, with a total vapor chamber area of 9140mm².
Finally, let’s talk about the cameras, because those are the least exciting parts of this phone. That’s because the OnePlus 12R has the same camera setup as the OnePlus 11R. The primary rear camera has a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. There is a 16MP selfie camera with a fixed focus. The phone can shoot 4K 60fps videos from the primary rear camera, but the selfie camera is limited to shooting up to 1080 30fps videos.
The phone runs on Android 14-based OxygenOS 14.0.

The phone will start shipping in India from February 6. In Europe and the North American market, the shipping starts from February 13. The pre-orders have already started.
