A week after its launch in China, the OnePlus Ace was launched in India today but with a different name. In India, it was launched as the OnePlus 10R, the successor to the OnePlus 9R. The price starts at ₹38,999, which is interesting because spending ₹4,000 extra gets you the OnePlus 9RT, a phone with a better chip than the 10R and a better camera setup. The only thing that the 10R does better than the 9RT is charging, as it supports up to 150W fast charging, the fastest in any OnePlus phone launched to date.
Design-wise, this is quite a unique-looking phone by OnePlus. The main reason for this is the design of the camera module since it looks so different from other OnePlus phones launched previously. The camera module has a triple camera setup. TThe back also has a two-tone design, with one-half having vertical lines. The sides are flat, and one thing that this phone is missing is the alert slider, something we expect to see on a high-end OnePlus phone. The USB Type-C port is present on the bottom, and there are stereo speakers.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 10R has the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX SOC. The company says that compared to the standard Dimensity 8100 SOC, the MAX version unlocks the full potential of this chip and the power usage is also lower. For cooling, there is a large 4129.8mm² vapor chamber cooling system, and with the Graphite/Graphene combo, the heat dissipation is 66% higher as compared to standard graphite. There is LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The battery size is 4,500/5,000mAh, and the phone supports up to 150W SuperVOOC charging. It is worth mentioning that only the 12GB + 256GB Variant of the phone supports 150W charging and has a 4,500mAh battery. The other variants support 80W SuperVOOC charging and have a 5,000mAh battery. With 150W charging, the battery can be charged from 1 to 100% in just 17 minutes.
On the front, the OnePlus 10R has a 6.7-inch 120Hz Fluid OLED with a Full-HD+ resolution, 10-bit color depth, HDR10+, Gorilla Glass protection, and 360Hz touch-response rate. The triple camera setup on the rear includes a primary 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS and f/1.8 lens, an 8MP sensor with an f/2.2 ultrawide lens, and a 2MP sensor with a macro lens. For selfies, the phone has a 16MP sensor with an f/2.4 lens.
Finally, Android 12 runs out of the box with OxygenOS 12.1 on top.
