So far, Nuba-backed Red Magic has launched four gaming phones named Red Magic, Red Magic Mars, Red Magic 3 & Red Magic 3S. Interestingly, these four phones were launched in the span of two years. Now, Nubia is all set to launch yet another phone under the Red Magic brand. It might launch as Nubia Red Magic 5G, but there are chances of this phone coming with a different name.
Today, a trusted source from Weibo revealed the key specifications of this upcoming gaming phone from Nubia. As per the source, the phone has a Full-HD+ OLED (2340 x 1080) panel with up to 144Hz refresh rate. This means when it launches, it would be the first smartphone to launch with a 144Hz display.
It is worth mentioning that Redmi has already tested the 144Hz refresh rate on its K30 but decided to launch it with a 120Hz refresh rate. Still, the K30 has an LCD panel, whereas the one on Nubia Red Magic 5G is AMOLED.
The SOC powering the phone is, unsurprisingly, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 & as the name suggests, there is 5G support, thanks to the X55 5G Modem. The phone has 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, just like the upcoming Galaxy S20 series. Interestingly, the Weibo source suggests 55W Wired Charging, but the president of Nubia recently teased 80W charging, so we will have to wait to get more confirmation about the charging speed.
There is a triple camera setup on the back that includes a primary 64 Megapixel sensor, which is most probably the IMX686 from Sony. We already know that there is dual-mode 5G & the Red Magic 5G is the first gaming phone to have this.
Well, this is just the beginning & we will see a lot of gaming phones this year from various brands like Xiaomi (Black Shark), Asus, Vivo (iQOO), etc. Let’s see at what price Nubia Red magic 5G launches in the Indian market.
